learn how to envy yourself

Prayer is the way in which we communicate with God.

I have experienced a huge positive impact in my marriage because of prayer. Whether my husband and I have faced good times or really difficult trials, prayer has brought us closer together to each other and closer to God. And when we were extremely broken, ready to give up all together, God heard our prayers and He saved us! He saved our marriage!

Prayer is beautiful. Just having intimate access to talk to God and knowing He desires to hear from us is pretty incredible. Then as we specifically pray for marriage, it aligns our hearts with His will. To go even further, when we pray with our spouse, they get to hear what we say which is usually a glimpse into the depths of our hearts. In all the years my husband and I have prayed together I can attest that it is remarkably affirming. Continue reading “CHALLENGE- 31 DAYS PRAYER FOR MARRIAGE”

Dear me,

I am writing this letter to remind you of the ‘whys’ and priorities in your life. you have always been responsible for your success and the success of those around you. As a married partner, your marriage is very important to you. It must be protected at all cost. It is sacred to you. Cherish it, water it, build it into a castle, put all your effort into it and relax and enjoy the outcome. You know you can do it, all you need to do is to sit and focus on the now. The things of the past are already gone, the things of the future will come, what you have is NOW, make it worth living for.

Remember, procrastination is like a grave that must be buried, it has caused you a lot of bad waves in your relationship, avoid PROCRASTINATION, do it now. Of course, it is difficult, start scheduling your activities and most importantly, put all your thoughts in writing. With goals in mind, the most logical thing is to write it down. Glass houses are built first from a thrust in the soil. Continue reading “A LETTER TO ME”

Another story prompt from the blog event FINISH IT on It is always wounderful to read the creativity of the mind. FINISH IT!#8.

Download (1)She was standing there, trembling. Her feet right on the edge, wondering how deep the fall might be. Her heart was racing. She was determined. She started controlling her breath, it was something they taught her. One of the few good things she got out of it.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Fireside Chat.”

What person whom you don’t know very well in real life — it could be a blogger whose writing you enjoy, a friend you just recently made, etc. — would you like to have over for a long chat in which they tell you their life story.

Writing this post got me thinking. ‘is there anyone I would really love to have a chat with?’, it hit me, for the long months I offered a German Language Course, I had longed for nothing but to have a long chat with my teacher. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity. You might be surprised, why the longing. I wore a flowing gown on the Monday I won’t forget in a hurry, standing before 33 people from different nationalities, the black, dark, white, red, orange-yellow and green skin colours were all humbly represented. ‘Where do I start from’? I took the best bet and sat at the far end of the classroom, there I can feed my eyes and notice anything unusual – it was the best idea.

LighthouseWhen all is not well, we blame other forces. The person who really wants to do something finds a way; the other person finds an excuse. Why is your house this dirty, ‘my dear, you know I have three children, it’s difficult keeping up. Are you sure it is the children? were you tidy as a single woman? Have you not seen a woman with five children with a house as spotless as a hospital? You passed the exams because you have no children or responsibility.’I have three children and there is no time to study’, do you know I have an aunt that is a Professor with four children? Before the children did you ever pass an exams? do you know that you can wake up at night and study? do you know that you can stay back after the lectures and study for 30 mins? have you forgotten that when your baby sleeps you watch the television instead of reading? The person who really wants to do something finds a way; the other person finds an excuse.

Ibrahim!!! you should actually stop hitting your wife, ‘she provokes me always’ what! Is dat an excuse? do you know you can walk away? do you know that you can control yourself? it is called ‘self control’, do you know you can make peace with yourself? Uyai, you are so beautiful, when I was single, I was really beautiful. I made my hair every fortnight, but now there is no time. So that is why you look like a mad woman? Do you know that there are hair styles that can be worn for a month? what is wrong with your natural hair? do you know you can shampoo it, straighten it and look like a queen? maybe you need to be familiar with the phrase ‘house service’. When I was in school, I would borrow text books at the beginning of the semester, read through the chapters and make notes. When the results are pasted, Brenda will always say,’you are ‘brainy’ that is the reason for your success’. She forgot I borrowed her books, and that those books were meant to be read?

Do you know that excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure? do you also know no one ever excused his way to success? Success is a tale of obstacles overcome, and for every obstacle overcome, an excuse not used. You can make excuses or you can get the job done, but you can’t do both. A man can fail many times, but he isn’t a failure until he begins to blame somebody else. People spend too much time finding people to blame, too much energy finding excuses for not being what they are capable of being, and not enough energy putting themselves on the line, growing out of the past and getting on with their lives. Remember there is always a way to overcome any hurdle.

Lizzie Velasquez was born with a rare disease that makes it impossible for her to gain weight. A few years ago so discovered that internet bullies cruelly voted her the “ugliest on the Internet.” Rising above her tormentors she has gone on to succeed greatly in life. Watch her give an amazing and Godly speech that will literally change your life!

She rose above the media’s definition of ugly. In every situation you find yourself, there is always a story waiting for the world to hear, a message set just to inspire one person, so you must rise above any situation and the next person will believe that there is no problem without a solution.

This is very inspiring. I learnt a lot from the CNN  International Correspondent Zain Asher in  TEDxEuston Event. She talked about her background and the hurdles she had to jump over to get to her ‘dream job’. It’s a Continue reading “WATCH ZAIN ASHER’S INSPIRING TALK – TRUST YOUR STRUGGLES”

womeninspiredblogAs I stood in my balcony today, looking beyond the beautiful city, shivering due to the harsh winter winds and drowning in awe of the handwork of God, one thing came to mind! what was God thinking that he made everything so beautiful and made the human heart full of hate. Less than a second later, the Evangelic church bell rang bringing me to the realization that it was already 9 pm and the 9th day of January. Wow, the year has just began and is almost ended, I will be a year older this year, which dream is yet to be fulfilled? which aspiration is yet to be met? which life is yet to be touched? so many things to do and life goes really quick.

I remembered the ranting of a depressed woman, ‘ I’m 58 years old. I’ll be 59 in Continue reading “ROAD MAP TO DECEMBER”

womeninspired‘ginger o, ginger o’, as the rhythm moved everyone to the 5th gear, the Russian woman by my side asked if it was time to eat ‘ginger’. I laughed and carefully explained to her that Nigerian musicians have the best lyrics and she was very impressed. If only she was a Nigerian, then, she would have understood in clear terms what i actually meant. As the music blared louder and louder, the dance steps changed and the night gave way to the dawn of a new day – 25th December. We were all yawning, exhausted from ‘enjoyment’ – nija’s definition of stressing yourself out. I slept till noon and awoke with a migraine headache, effect of eating and drinking everything the party host had to offer. My ankles were not left out, I had saved for three months to add a Louboutin to my collections, and you understand, there was no excuse to give my feet rest,( I must wear my money till it complete lol) . ‘what will I cook today – Rice? Chicken?’ I slumped back in bed, I was all alone on a Christmas day, who will i celebrate with? who will I cook for? what a day to be home alone! I was in deep sorrow. After all the ‘jolly’ the previous night, I am celebrating a day meant to be celebrated with friends and families alone. Continue reading “FAMILY NOTEBOOK”
